Sunday Piazza Live: Milton Q & Texas Down Under
Sun, 2012-02-19 13:00 - Sun, 2012-02-19 15:00
Charismatic entertainer Milton Quackenbush, fronts the band, Texas Down Under, as they perform songs from the Lone Star State. From Houston, Texas, Milton is the “Real Deal” when it comes to Texas music, and has performed for well over a million people in “live” audiences, and tens of millions in television performances. Milton spent 10 years with legendary singer/songwriter, Mel Tillis, playing piano in Mel’s twenty two piece band, The Statesider’s. They made regular appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, and Nashville TV shows. A diversified performer, he has starred in a Broadway Musical, played in Okinawa, Japan, and performed at some of the biggest jazz festivals in the world. Milton is an extremely accomplished pianist, and the great Merle Haggard once stated, “If there ain’t a chord there that Milton needs, he’ll invent it.” Proudly presented by the City of Perth on Sundays in February and March, enjoy a lazy afternoon of live laid back music performances from local acts at the Northbridge Piazza. |

Each week Lablogotheque invites an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, filming the whole session. What makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectedly. Their goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. |

Anime Film Season: Howl's Moving Castle
Sun, 2012-02-19 20:30 - Sun, 2012-02-19 22:30
Sophie, a diligent teenage girl working in her family's hat shop, finds her life thrown into turmoil when she is literally swept off her feet by a handsome-but-mysterious wizard named Howl. This innocent encounter engages the vain and conniving Witch of the Waste, who transforms her into a 90-year-old woman. Sophie's efforts to break the curse bring her to Howl's magical moving castle, where she befriends Markl, Howl's apprentice, and the hot-headed fire demon Calcifer. Her love and support have a major impact on Howl, who can be maddeningly self-indulgent and singularly noble: He defies royal orders to participate in a meaningless war and risks his life to bring peace to the kingdom. |
